MILLBURY

MIILBURY – Walter R. Beasley, 94, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 11th, surrounded by his loving family.

Walter’s wife, Rita E. (Mackowiak) Beasley passed away in 2010.  He leaves three children, Lori J. Piscitelli and her husband, Steven of Millbury, Nancy A. Bousquet and her husband, Jack of Wales, Candace M. Dranginis and her husband, Louis of Sturbridge, a daughter-in-law Evoine Beasley of Worcester and his companion Ann Nocchi of Millbury; nine grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son James W. Beasley and his grandson James W. Beasley Jr.

Walter grew up in Worcester, Ma and attended Worcester Public Schools but enlisted in the United States Marine Corps before graduation.  Walter enlisted on November 16, 1945 serving as a Rifleman with 1st MAR DIV 2nd Battalion 1st Marines G Co. traveling to Japan, China, Hawaii and regarded his time in the Marines as an honor.

Walter was very active in his nearly 95 years.  Many memories were made with Rita, their children and grandchildren at their hunting camp in Bradford, VT. Walter spent many years on ‘Hackett Hill’ hunting with family and good friends.  In their later years Walt and Rita became snowbirds and spent each winter in Northport, FL. He was always the first one with a tear in his eye leaving the night before their journey knowing he would be away from family for a few short months.  While they enjoyed the sun and warm weather, they spent their time playing bingo, finding the best places to shop and new places to show family who would visit.  Walter never sat still, whether it was following hunting trails in town, putting around his house or yard, gardening, playing cards every night after dinner or telling stories of his younger years as he served as a Marine.  Walter was likely most known for his quirky sayings and lengthy jokes.  He was extremely active in family life – his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren are all so blessed to have so many happy memories shared together.

Walter’s family would like to thank Maria from VNA Hospice & Palliative Care for all of her care, compassion, and patience through this difficult time.
