SUTTON

SUTTON -Terrence B. Windle, 83, died on Sunday, January 31, 2021 at Saint Vincent Hospital, of respiratory failure.

Terry was born on November 10, 1937, the son of Winfred “Bunny” W. Windle and Betty B. Windle. A lifelong resident of Sutton, he grew up in a loving, rambling, and busy home on Lake Singletary.

He graduated from Sutton High School, Class of 1955, and then from Babson Institute, Class of 1958. Terry later attended Boston University and the University Of Virginia Graduate School Of Business.

He spent his career in the textile industry, owning and operating a successful woolen mill, Windle Industries, Inc., in Millbury for nearly 30 years until it closed in 2002. The family business traced its beginnings to the late 1890’s, originally founded as the W. W. Windle Company by his grandfather. In 1936, Terry’s father (Winfred W. Windle) took over the family business.

Terry truly enjoyed politics and in 1961 ran for State Senator from the 4th Worcester District under Governor Volpe. His slogan was “Win with Windle.” He loved the outdoors and was active in many sports, including golf, tennis, snowmobiling, skiing, fishing and especially “navigating” the waters of Cape Cod and the Islands. He honorably served in the United States Air Force Reserves. Since 1984, he was a charter, and very involved, member of the Sutton Lions Club, elected twice as president. Terry received the Melvin Jones Award from the Lions Club International Foundation, recognizing his dedication to humanitarian service. Terry also volunteered with the Sutton Fire Department.

Above all, Terry was a loving, devoted husband, proud father, and adoring grandfather. He was very generous with a kind heart and will be missed, and remembered, by many people.

He leaves his wife of 41 years, Cynthia (Consoli) Windle; three sons, William W. Windle and his wife Sally Ann of Houston, Texas, Jeffrey S. Windle of Oak Bluffs, and Christopher T. Windle and his wife Kellie of Sutton; a brother Winstone W. Windle and his wife Mary of Village of Golf, Florida; two sisters, Tallea W. Lamothe and her husband George of Shrewsbury and Connie W. Strasburger and her husband Ron of Scottsdale, Arizona; six grandchildren Hannah G. and Rebecca J. Windle of Houston, Texas; Elizabeth L. and Samuel A. Windle of Harwich Port and Sophia G. and Noah C. Windle of Sutton; a sister-in-law Maria C. and her husband Dr. Benjamin M. Ianzito of Yarmouth Port; and many nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by two brothers, Thomas M. Windle and his wife Carole of Wellesley and Jonathan W. Windle of Naples, Florida and his wife Hilda of Woodstock, Georgia.
