SUTTON

SUTTON – Rudolph E. Pearson, 93, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 14th in his home surrounded by his loving family.

Rudolph’s wife of 46 years, Amelia E. (Leyh) Pearson passed in 2002 and he is predeceased by his daughter, Christine E. Pearson.  He leaves five children, David E. Pearson, Benjamin E. Pearson, Nancy E. Troy, all of Sutton; Andrew E. Pearson of CT; and Marie E. Rochon of Douglas; thirteen grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren. He is the son of the late Nils Otto and Annie Theresa (Dahl) Pearson and is also predeceased by three brothers, Arnold, Otto, and Kenneth Pearson. Rudolph has lived in the same home in Sutton for 93 years.

Rudy was an active member of the First Congregational Church of Sutton for 57 years.  During that time, he was a Deacon, teacher, and served on numerous committees. He was Chairman of the 1980 Committee for the restoration of the church sanctuary. He designed the new office, classrooms, living room and choir room addition in 1987.  Rudy started working on the family farm as a young boy, then owned and operated the family dairy farm for many years, until he tried sales in the Electrical Industry in which he succeeded.  He then was employed at Maki Electrical for 25 years as office manager, retiring in 1990. Rudy is well known for his carpentry skills, and ability to build or fix anything. He was the first Grand Marshall in the Town of Sutton July 4th parade in 2019 and was celebrated as the oldest living resident.

Rudy’s devotion was to his family, and he enjoyed spending time with them.  His passion was building, and that was reflected in the redesign of the family home by adding a second level to accommodate his family of 6 children. He enjoyed cooking and baking for all and was well known for his delicious pies.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Rudolph’s life by gathering for a time of visitation on Thursday, May 19 from 5 to 7 p.m. in Mulhane Home for Funerals, 45 N.
