WORCESTER

WORCESTER - Ronald J Chicky 52, died unexpectedly on December 23rd due to a sudden illness.

Ron is predeceased by his parents, Kenneth and Barbara (Balcius) Chicky. He leaves behind his grandmother Anne Balcius, Uncle Pete Balcius and cousins Lynn Lucente and Mark Balcius in Arizona; cousin Paul Spyrka and partner Alberto Autuna in Massachusetts.

Ron's immediate family were his close group of friends and their children.

In New Hampshire he leaves Marci Lapan, Scott Lapan and their daughter Sophia; Andrew Greiner, his wife Jasmine and their children; Emily Harp, her husband Jacob and their children; Ethan Aubin and his daughter.

In Massachusetts Keith Greiner and Paul Reynolds, as well as Michael Bucciaglia. In Florida Heather Kasperzak, and in Ireland Christine Cairns, Brian Cairns and their children Dylan, Chloe, Sarah, Madison and Alex.

Ron was born in Worcester and attended South High school, graduating in 1986; he then went on to graduate Suma cum laude from Worcester State College with a double major in English and Psychology with a minor in Philosophy in 1992. After college Ron dabbled in a variety of pursuits throughout the years but was predominantly known for his extensive book collecting and book dealing.

Ron stayed humble and modest throughout his life but expressed himself with great passion through his affiliation with cinema, his consumption with listening, studying and playing music. He spent a lifetime devoted to reading and sharing books with those he loved; more often than not one could find Ron surveying the bargain bins at a library or browsing book sales.

He played guitar, enjoyed a good game of Monopoly, loved The Beatles, going for long walks with friends, having coffee with long conversations and playing with the children in his life that looked upon him as a grandfather.

One of Ron's most compelling attributes was how he engulfed himself in learning and retained a wealth of information that he in turn would gleefully share his knowledge with anyone who would listen.

Although Ron had no children of his own, he had nine children in his life who have all known him since the day they were born, and six who were like grandchildren to  him; he loved them all, and they are all the better for always having him in their lives.

Ron had a favorite quote...  “A heart is not judged by how much you love; but by how much you are loved by others"

L. Frank Baum

Ron's friends will miss and adore him eternally.

A celebration of Ron’s life will be held at a later date.
