MILLBURY – Richard A. Williams, 77, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 26th at St. Vincent Hospital surrounded by his loving family. He was an amazing husband, father, Papa and will be forever loved and missed.
Richard leaves behind his wife of 42 years, Janice Williams, his 3 children, Tracy Williams and partner M.J. Bailey of Exeter, NH; Robert Guyan of Millbury, MA and Carrie Guyan of Millbury, MA. He also leaves behind 4 grand children, Emma and Samantha Guyan of Millbury, MA; Austin Bailey Williams of Exeter NH, and Lorianna Guyan of Millbury MA. He was predeceased by his sister Carol J. Williams and parents J. Howard Williams and Dorothy (Quackenbush) Williams
Richard worked as an accountant for Jon R. LeClaire Builders, Inc for 30 years prior to retiring. He was a gifted golfer, in his younger years he was known as the best left-handed golfer in New England in which he received a full golf scholarship to Duke University. He enjoyed golfing at numerous courses throughout his life, and was a member of Pleasant Valley Country Club for several years. Richard was an avid bowler and once appeared on Candlepins for Cash television show.
Richard had a love for the game of blackjack, which he showed by his many trips to Mohegan Sun through the years; he would always say "I'm going to support the Indians"
Richard was all about his family and friends and traveling with them all was something he did often. Many cruises, trips to the beach, time spent in Vegas, Sunday cookouts and just spending time out in his gardens.
Richard lived life to the fullest with simple pleasures like chatting with family and friends, playing board and card games, snacking late at night, gardening, and coming up with new recipes to try, He will be missed by all who knew him,
Family and friends are invited to celebrate and remember Richard’s life by gathering for a time of visitation on Thursday, Sept. 1st from 5 to 8 p.m. in Mulhane Home for Funerals, 45 N. Main Street in Millbury.
His graveside service will be held on Friday, Sept. 2nd at 11 a.m. in Central Cemetery, 45 West Street in Millbury.
