Rachel M. Gauthier, 85, passed away in the early morning hours of Tuesday March 21st at Advinia Care in Northbridge.
She leaves one sister Cecile "Cis" Murphy, of Millbury; two brothers, Donald "Don" Gauthier and wife, Judy of Millbury, Gerald "Jerry" Gauthier and wife, Claire of West Franklin, NH; sisters-in-law Jeannine Gauthier of Northborough, Frances Gauthier of Millbury and Geraldine Gauthier of Auburn, her beloved 25 nieces and 28 nephews, and many grandnieces and grandnephews. She is predeceased by her parents, Hilarien and Cecile (Thibault) Gauthier, her nine siblings Therese “Terry” Gauthier and Lucie Gauthier of Millbury, Roland Gauthier of Grafton, Clarence Gauthier of Texas, Gaston "Gus" Gauthier of Northborough, Richard “Dick” Gauthier of Millbury, Eveline "Eve" Ricci of McDonough, GA, Paul Gauthier of Auburn and Jacqueline “Jackie” Gauthier of Millbury.
Rachel was born in Millbury on January 21, 1938 and lived in Millbury most of her life. She graduated from Holy Name of Jesus High School in 1956. She was a long-time dedicated employee at Snyder Brothers and Polyvinyl Films in Sutton from where she eventually retired. She loved children and worked as a nanny for a period of time post-retirement. In her younger years, she loved traveling and camping and was an avid doll collector. She enjoyed reading, making puzzles, watching TV game shows and baseball games, going out to dinner and especially loved her sweets. Rachel will be remembered as a good-natured, jovial, kindhearted, fun loving person who treasured her family above all. She was a social butterfly, making friends everywhere she went. She was one of a kind and will never be forgotten.
A special and heartfelt thank you to all of her caregivers at Advinia for being her second family and taking such excellent care of her for the duration of her stay and also to New England Hospice for the compassionate end of life care that they provided to her as well as the support they provided to the family that sat vigil at her bedside.
Family and friends will honor and remember Rachel’s life by gathering for a time of visitation on Friday, March 31st from 5 to 8 p.m. at Mulhane Home for Funerals, 45 N. Main Street in Millbury.
Her funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, April 1st at 10 a.m. at St. Brigid Church, 59 N. Main St. in Millbury. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Uxbridge.
Flowers are welcome but if preferred memorial contributions may be made to the Heart Failure Society of America Research Fund.
