Paul Loughlin

d. November 15, 2017

Paul F. Loughlin, 75, passed away after a long illness on Wednesday, Nov. 15th in his home surrounded by his family.

Paul is survived by his wife of 52 years, Patricia A. (Cote) Loughlin; a son, Philip S. Loughlin and his wife, Lena of Auburn; two grandchildren, Nicholas and Juliana; many nieces, nephews and cousins. He is predeceased by his youngest son, Christopher P. Loughlin and his older brothers John, William and Raymond.

Paul was born October 19th 1942 in Worcester, Massachusetts to John and Margaret Loughlin.  He graduated from Worcester State University in 1964, with a degree in Secondary Education, and later received his Master’s degree from Worcester State University, as well.  He married Patricia in July of 1965.  They met their senior year of Worcester State.  His greatest joy was his family. His greatest titles earned was Dad and Grampa.  After graduation he began teaching in the Worcester Public Schools, and was dedicated to and loved every minute guiding young people for 39 years.

Paul loves God, found great comfort in his family of St. Mark’s Church, and volunteered on a number of committees and programs throughout the years.  He also loved the U.S.A. and was honored and privileged to serve in the 1ST Battalion of the 181st Infantry of the Army National Guard for six years.  Besides God, family, friends and country, he had many loves.  To mention just a few: golf, books, his cat Toby, green lawns, October, music, buttered lobster, raspberry anything, laughter (lots of that); he was known for his dry humor.  The list could go on and on.    He loved life and he fought bravely and gracefully to the very end.  His quiet gentle presence will be missed and remembered well.

Family and friends will honor and remember Paul’s life by gathering for calling hours on Sunday, Nov. 19th from 2 to 5 p.m. in Mulhane Home for Funerals, 45 N. Main Street in Millbury.

His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, Nov. 20th at 10:30 a.m. in St. Mark’s Church, 356 Boston Road in Sutton.  Burial will follow in Howard Cemetery, Sutton.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Paul’s favorite charity St. Mark’s Haiti Effort, 356 Boston Road, Sutton, MA 01590.
