MILLBURY – Michael Carl Boll – husband, father, technician, musician, and tinkerer - passed into the arms of the Lord, Wednesday, June 30, 2021 at the age of 70 surrounded by his loving wife and sons.
Mike was born in Chicago, Illinois to Carl P. and Ruth (Steiner) Boll who predeceased him. He leaves his wife of 33 years, Linda (Kane) Boll, his sons Eric and Peter Boll of Millbury – and his sister Sandy Wrychowski, and brother in-law James.
Michael grew up in Wilmette, IL and graduated from New Trier High School in 1969. After graduating he traveled with a friend to Colorado where he lived in a teepee for a year working as a carpentry aid. He later moved to Massachusetts where he graduated from Worcester State College. He worked at UMass Medical School for 20 years as a Certified Biomedical Technician, where he met the love of his life. Later he became the Supervisor of the Blood Gas Lab in the Operating Room before retiring from Bayer as a Sr. Technical Consultant.
Mike volunteered for many years with the International Children’s Heart Foundation where he helped provide life-saving surgery for children in Haiti, Vietnam, and Ecuador. His favorite stories consisted of those of his travels abroad. He loved helping the less fortunate and found great pleasure knowing he could be part of something bigger than himself. Early in his son’s Scouting life he volunteered as Den Leader with Millbury Pack 108. He enjoyed playing his piano, guitar, and working on his many household projects. His greatest love was to be with his family on vacation, especially at Lake George.
Family and friends will honor and remember Mike’s life with a time of visitation on Friday, July 9th from 4 to 7 p.m. at Mulhane Home for Funerals, 45 N. Main Street in Millbury.
His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, July 10th at 11 a.m. in St. Brigid Church, 59 N. Main Street, Millbury. Burial will follow in Central Cemetery, Millbury.
