DUDLEY

DUDLEY - Janice J. (Peloquin) Kungoian, (formerly Rogers), 79, passed away in the comfort of her home according to her wishes on Tuesday, January 12th, surrounded by her loving family after a long and well fought battle. Janice was born in Sutton, a daughter of Alice Haley and Charles Peloquin. She would often fondly recall the kindness of her step-father, William May.

She leaves behind her loving and devoted husband and number one caregiver, Jacob “Jack”, with whom she would have celebrated 40 years of marriage on February 14th. Her daughter, Linda Luthman and her husband Russell and her adoring grandchildren Ali and Zack. In 2019, Janice was introduced to granddaughter, Rachel Heyn and great-grandchildren, Amber and Travis. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly. She was predeceased by her son, Paul A. Rogers, Jr. who passed on February 1, 2020.

Janice graduated from Millbury High School in 1959 where she was Captain of multiple sports teams including softball, field hockey, and basketball. In her younger days, she worked at the Flying Saucer and Town Line Restaurants. She participated and won many beauty pageants however, the opportunity to continue along this path was short lived when she decided at age 19 to marry and begin her family. When Linda and Paul were growing-up she was an active Girl Scout leader and Cub Scout den mother, all while working full time as an administrative assistant for various businesses including Atlas Van Lines, Linders Auto and UMass-Group Practice. She was a caring wife, wonderful mother, loving grandmother, and loyal friend.

Janice truly enjoyed time spent by the water especially on Cape Cod (“You will go to the beach and you WILL have fun”!) and Old Orchard Beaches, Aruba, and along the banks of rivers in the White Mountains. She enjoyed going to the casino “for lunch” with a “little” gambling. She was a collector, tea drinker, had a sweet tooth and loved afternoons on her sunporch sitting next to Jack reading the newspaper, coupon clipping or doing a word search. She was a proud member of Emanuel Lutheran Church and the Millbury Historical Society.

Janice was a dotting and loving grandmother to Ali and Zack, where she was front seat to all of their activities including school and sporting events, sometimes arriving hours early to have the best view. She could be heard throughout the stands and had no problem being vocal with her opinions to referees or coaches. No matter the location, she always was present, regardless of how she was feeling from her treatments.

The family would like to extend gratitude to Drs. Walsh and Alli of UMASS and Nancy and Jen of Beacon Home Hospice for their tremendous care over the years and especially during her final months.

Due to COVID, calling hours and funeral services are private.
