WORCESTER - Jacqueline “Jackie” Nichols, 77, died on December 7, 2020 following a period of failing health. Jackie was born on January 9, 1943 on a cold icy day in Worcester. Her parents were Raymond and Evelyn Wallman. Raymond was given leave from the army during WWII to see his newborn daughter.
She grew up in a small wooded neighborhood in Worcester and as a child enjoyed ice skating on the pond behind her parents’ house, playing sports and fishing with her dad, climbing trees, and hanging out with her neighborhood friends. In the summer, she would spend time with her cousins at their farm in Connecticut where they would ride horses. After marrying at the age of 19, she bought a house in her childhood neighborhood where she raised her two sons, Brett and Jimmy, and lived until her death. She was a caring daughter to her parents throughout their lives and enjoyed many days in the sun at their pool down the road which was a popular gathering place for family and friends.
She had various jobs during her life and spent most of her career as bench electrician at AC Tech, later known as Lenz Corporation. For most of her years there, she was the longest tenured employee and was always an outstanding worker and mentor who brought fun to the workplace. After retiring, she found pleasure in trips to the casino to play the slots with her lifelong friend Judy.
Her partner George Gamble with whom she had many great years died in 2018. Their time together included island trips and dining out, most frequently to Pub 99.
Jackie was beautiful inside and out. She was deservedly blessed to have many wonderful, caring friends. Her greatest joy was her family. Her sons always felt her love and knew they were lucky to have her as their mom. She treated two generations of grandkids and a great grandchild to her love and kindness. There were trips to McDonald’s, Christmas at Grammy’s house, and card games.
She leaves behind her son Brett and wife Nanci; son Jim and wife Maureen; grandkids Justin, Jordan, Jonathan, Noah, Maggie, and Sadie; and great grandchild Shayla. She was predeceased by her grandson Christopher.
Due to Covid-19 concerns, a celebration of her life will be held at a future date.
