SUTTON

SUTTON - Harold “Harry” Reece, 85, husband of Joy (Kortekamp) Reece and longtime resident of Sutton MA. passed away April 1, 2021. In addition to his wife of 57 years, Harry leaves a son John Reece of Paxton and his wife Lisa Paciello Reece, and a daughter Susanne Savard and her husband Gary of Sturbridge.  Harry also leaves his grandchildren, Anthony Reece and Sara Savard who he always said were the best grandchildren in the world.  Harry is survived by his sister Dorothy Townsend and sisters-in-law Joan Reece, Geraldine Kortekamp, Joan Gilson and his brother-in-law Ron Gilson. He also leaves several nieces and nephews. Harry was predeceased by his brother, William Reece and his brothers-in-law Robert Townsend and Jack Kortekamp.

Born in Worcester, the son of Harold Reece and Anna (Sawicki) Reece, Harry graduated from South High School in 1954. He worked in a managerial position for First National Supermarkets and then became a self-employed distributor for Arnold’s Food Company, Inc.

Harry’s retirement was spent repairing and maintaining anything and everything. He took pride in his lawn and his vegetable garden that he shared with his brother Bill. Together they grew the best vegetables around and were particularly praised for their tomatoes and eggplant. Not only did Harry nurture his garden, he spent the majority of his time nurturing his beloved grandchildren, Sara and Anthony. He was their favorite playmate and biggest fan. For more than ten years there wasn’t a football, basketball or baseball game missed. He made it to every school play, dance recital, and Girl Scout function. His favorite saying was, “What happens at Grandpa’s, stays at Grandpa’s.”

Harry’s family would like to thank the healthcare staff at The Oasis at Dodge Park for taking such great care of him.

Per Harry’s wishes, there are no services.

At the family’s request, memorial gifts may be sent to the Oasis at Dodge Park Holiday Fund c/o Micha Shalev, 102 Randolph Road, Worcester, MA 01606.
