MILLBURY

MILLBURY - Delores M. (Robertson) Zimage Finne passed away in the early hours of July 9, 2021 after a long and well lived life of 93 years. She is now in the comfort of the Lord and has been reunited with many dear family members and friends.

Delores was born in Carnegie, Pennsylvania on August 13, 1927 to the late Homer Robertson and Thelma I. (Mersing) Simpson. Delores spent her younger years in Kansas City, Missouri before returning to the Pittsburgh area by the late 1930s.

On September 2, 1946 Delores married her beloved first husband Joseph J. Zimage. Together they would start a family and settle in McKees Rocks, Pennsylvania. They parented seven children and enjoyed their tight knit family within the Pittsburgh area.

Tragedy would strike Delores and her children in 1960 when Joseph passed away after a heart attack. Though times would be tough, Delores knew the importance of perseverance and she continued to be the best possible mother for her children.

After meeting a young widower from Massachusetts, Earl B. Finne, they married on February 16, 1963 and Delores became a step-mother to four young boys. Delores, Earl and all of the children would settle into their new house on Dorothy Pond in Millbury where together they would have four more children. This house evolved into an incredible home where under her care fifteen children were raised with love. Later many grandchildren thought of this as their second home whenever they visited their Grammy.

Delores, like many women during World War II, supported the war effort by working at the Federal Enamel factory in McKees Rocks. Delores had such a caring heart that it led her to work as a nurse’s aide at the former Pine Grove Nursing Home in Millbury where she was well regarded by the staff and residents.

Delores was an animal lover and adored her different dogs and cats she had over the years. She especially enjoyed her Boston Terriers which she took great pleasure in caring for. Delores also enjoyed completing word searches, television game shows, reading Amish literature, and playing 500 Rummy, Pokeno, Acey Deucey, and other card games. Her favorite moments were spent with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Delores is predeceased by her parents, her first husband of thirteen years Joseph J. Zimage, her beloved baby sister Katherine E. Robertson who died in 1932, as well as her dear step-father William T. “Pap'' Simpson and her step-mother Edith F. (Perdue) Robertson. Delores is also predeceased by her loving son Daniel W. Zimage, step-son Robert B. Finne, beloved daughter-in-laws Twyla M. “Cissy” (Hribar) Zimage and Hollie K. (Cristo) Finne, maternal grandfather Jacob Mersing and maternal grandmother Renelar (Richardson) Mersing, paternal grandfather William O. Robertson and paternal grandmother Addie E. (Hollingsworth) Robertson, mother-in-law Margaret (Tarapas) Zimage, grandson Scott E. Longbook and step-grandson Derrick J. Finne. The family takes comfort in the fact that Delores has so many loved ones greeting her within the Kingdom of Heaven.

Delores is survived by her husband of 58 years, Earl B. Finne, her beloved daughter and caregiver, Elaine C. Zimage, Katherine L. Person and her husband Richard, Bernadette M. Longbook and her husband Samuel, Joseph R. Zimage, David M. Zimage and his wife Margaret, James P. Zimage and his wife Ann, Earl A. Finne and his significant other Susan, Scott C. Finne, Rebecca L. Fancy and her husband Mark, and Robin J. Finne and her significant other Steven. Delores also leaves her step-children Rodney L. Finne and his wife Patricia, Kenneth C. Finne and his wife Sherry, and Thomas A. Finne and his wife Angela. She also leaves a sister-in-law Yolanda L. Zimage, a niece Loretta Wright, daughter-in-law Anne E. Zimage Motil, thirty-five grandchildren, and thirty-two great-grandchildren.

In her last two months, Delores received amazing care and support at the home of her son David and his wife Peg. She had countless visitors and was given the love and care she so very much deserved.

Delores was a longtime member of Hadwen Park Congregational Church in Worcester and was extremely blessed with years of spiritual guidance from Rev. Judith Hanlon. Following Delores’s wishes, there will be no calling hours. There will be private graveside ceremonies at St. Brigid Cemetery in Millbury, MA, as well as next to her husband Joe at St. Mary’s Cemetery in McKees Rocks, PA.
