SUTTON

SUTTON – Barry C. Marando, Sr., 81, passed away peacefully in his home on Saturday, March 4th surrounded by his loving family.

Barry leaves his wife, of 60 years, Janice M. (White) Marando; four children, Barry “Butch” Marando, Jr. and his wife, Melissa of Charlton, Cindy J. Hastings and her partner, Kent Dodge of Sutton, Lisa M. Madaio and her husband, Paul of Oxford and Bruce F. Marando, Sr. of Sutton; 15 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; his sisters, Linda Johnson and Marcia Leblanc both of Millbury; many nieces and nephews.  He is predeceased by his parents, Roland and Pearl (Aldrich) Marando; a sister, Janet Berthiaume and a grandson, Scott MacConnell, Jr. of Sutton.

Barry was a lifelong resident of Sutton. He attended Sutton Schools and lived in the same neighborhood for his whole life.  In his younger days, he loved going to the auto races in Westboro Speedway having his own car, 13X that he took pride in.  He loved going on family rides up North in the fall, camping at Salisbury Beach campgrounds in the summer, and was always happy when a good snowstorm was on the way as he loved plowing snow and did so for many years.  He was fondly known as the Sutton Mayor to his Millbury nephews, and he very much enjoyed taking rides and going shopping with his sisters.  Barry loved parties, parades, country music and pretty much had a ring side seat at the Annual Spencer Fair tractor pulls.  For many years, he enjoyed putting up Christmas lights and decorations at his home with his daughter Lisa, and especially loved to drive around to see other Christmas displays.  Barry and his wife, Jan ran a DJ service called Fun Times Music and they often played for the Kids Night Out in Sutton back in the day.  He enjoyed watching the birds from the front window when he wasn’t feeling well, and most of all he loved spending time with his family and especially his grandchildren.

Barry was a truck driver for many years retiring from Percy Guiou Excavating in Douglas, prior to that he drove for Degaetano Bros in Sutton, and he was a member of the Teamsters Local 170.

The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to the VNA Care, especially Shannon and to the Overlook Hospice Services, especially Peggy and April for all the great care that was given to Barry during his illness.

Family and friends are invited to remember and celebrate Barry’s life by gathering for a time of visitation on Thursday, March 9th from 4 to 7 p.m. in Mulhane Home for Funerals, 45 N. Main Street in Millbury.

His funeral service will be held on Friday, March 10th at 11 a.m. in the funeral home, followed by his burial in Howard Cemetery, Sutton.
