MILLBURY – Wallace “Wally” T. Landry, 89, passed away on Saturday, August 18th after a nine year courageous battle with lung cancer in CareOne of Millbury surrounded by his family.

Wally’s wife, Rita S. (Berthiaume) Landry passed away in 2007.  He leaves his daughter and caregiver, Linda M. Orstrom of Millbury; his son, Ted “Reno” Renauld and his wife, Diane of Westerly, R.I.; five grandchildren, Jason, Justin and his fiancé, Katie Krumsiek (who he thought of as a granddaughter), Ryan, Derek and Troy; four great grandchildren, Israel, Tristan, Teagan and Connor; his sister, Irene Collins of Auburn; many nieces and nephews.  Wally is predeceased by his son-in-law, James Orstrom, Sr.; a grandson, James Orstrom, Jr. and many siblings.

Wally was a veteran of the United States Navy, stationed in Miami and serving with the Weather Reconnaissance Squat 3.  He flew with the hurricane hunters and was an aviation mechanic while serving in the Navy.  Wally was awarded the Rupture Duck pin for serving during WWII with an honorable discharge.  He was a member of the Charles F. Minney VFW Post 3329 of Millbury.  Wally was a volunteer for the Millbury Fire Department, Engine 5 for many years.  He was a plaster for over 60 years, retiring when he was 80 years old.  Wally was an avid hunter, fisherman and reader.  He enjoyed going to the casino.

The family would like to thank the VA Hospitals in Jamaica Plans and West Roxbury for their care.  They would also like to express their gratitude to the staff of the CareOne of Millbury for all their care, love and support.

Family and friends will honor and remember Wally’s life by gathering for a time of visitation on Wednesday, August 22nd from 4 to 8 p.m. in Mulhane Home for Funerals, 45 N. Main Street in Millbury.  His funeral service will be celebrated on Thursday, August 23rd at 10 a.m. in St. Brigid Church, 59 N. Main Street of Millbury.  Burial with military honors will be in Central Cemetery, Millbury.
