MILLBURY - Thomas Francis Deeter passed away suddenly and unexpectedly late afternoon Thursday, January 24th at age 75.
He is survived by his companion of forty years, Donna L. Scholten, a daughter, Christy Capistran and her husband, Jim of Cape Elizabeth, ME and his adored grand-daughter Dana Capistran of Upton. He also leaves a son, Thomas J. Deeter of Brooklyn, CT. and his two grandsons Tommy and Connor Deeter of Mendon. Besides his immediate family he leaves two brothers, Jack and his wife, Deatra of Millbury and Jim and Elaine of North Caroline; sisters, Kathy of Millbury and Charlotte Emco of Charlton. He was pre-deceased by his parents, John and Hazel Deeter and his sister Margaret Salvas.
Tom enjoyed traveling around the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom. He also immensely enjoyed his “grand-dog” Miss Hartley the Basset Hound. He was employed as a shipper, receiver, and truck driver for Sandman/Lewcott for his entire career. He was also a sustained member of the Massachusetts Chiefs of Police Association. The family would like to express gratitude to MedStar Ambulance and the staff at UMASS Memorial University-Emergency Room for their heroic efforts and compassion.
Family and friends will honor and remember Tom’s life by gathering for a time of visitation on Tuesday, Jan. 29th from 9 to 11 a.m. at Mulhane Home for Funerals, 45 N. Main Street in Millbury.
His funeral service will be celebrated at 11 a.m. following the calling hours in the funeral home. Burial will follow at Central Cemetery in Millbury.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Looziana Basset Rescue, P.O. Box 642, Folsom, LA 70437.
