Stephen Howard

March 24, 1923 — April 10, 2002

WEBSTER - Stephen J. Howard, 79, of 11 Community Rd., formerly of Millbury, died Wednesday, April 10, in Rhode Island Hospital, Providence, Rhode Island, after being stricken ill at home..

He leaves his wife, Rita M. (Maynard) Howard; three brothers, Harold Howard and Charles Howard both of Millbury and John Howard of Worcester; nephews and nieces. He was born in Millbury, son of Harry and Agnes (Johnston) Howard and lived in Millbury most of his life before moving to Webster a few years ago. He graduated from Millbury High School in 1941.

Mr. Howard was a die maker at the former New England High Carbon Wire Company before he retired. He previously worked at the Felters Company. He was in the Army Air Corp., during WW II, serving in the European Africian Middle Eastern Theater.

He was a member of the Millbury Federated Church, the Charles F. Minney Veterans of Foreign Wars Post, both in Millbury and was a member of the Webster Sailing Association, since 1963. He enjoyed golfing.

The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday April 13 in Mulhane Home for Funerals, 45 Main St., Millbury, ( www.mulhane.com ). Burial will be in Central Cemetery. A calling hour will be 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, April 13, in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Millbury Federated Church, 20 Main St., Millbury, Ma. 01527.
