SOUTHBOROUGH

Southborough – Sandra Lee (Binnall) Hermans, 77, honoring the Life and Love of a Cherished Mother, Nana, Friend, and Faithful Servant of God.

With profound sadness and deep gratitude for a life well-lived, we announce the passing of Sandra, a cherished wife, beloved mother, devoted nana, steadfast friend, and faithful servant of God. Sandra unexpectedly departed this world on Sunday, August 20, 2023, leaving behind a legacy of love, sacrifice, and unwavering dedication.

Sandra was born on April 6,1946 in Gardner, Massachusetts, the only child of Melvin Roger Binnall and Shirley Mae (Simmons) Binnall. She graduated from Leicester High School in 1964.  After high school, she met her husband, John, while working at Herbert Engineering.  John and Sandye were married on October 18, 1969.

While raising her three young children, she simultaneously embarked on a successful career in real estate first with Bob and Lee Mathieu Real Estate and then Caldwell Banker in Shrewsbury, achieving the remarkable milestone of becoming a million-dollar broker. Her tenacity, sharp intellect, and passion for helping others find their dream homes were evident to all who had the privilege of working with her.

As life unfolded, Sandra became a legal secretary for the Law Offices of R. Mark Petersen. Yet, her most profound calling was that of mother and nana. Her devotion to her family was unparalleled, and she made the courageous decision to leave the professional world behind to care for her cherished grandchildren, moving wherever her loved ones needed her most. Her selflessness knew no bounds, as she poured her love, wisdom, and energy into creating a safe and nurturing environment for her grandchildren to flourish.

Sandra’s love and dedication also extended to her church community at The First Congregational Church in Millbury. Her involvement enriched the lives of those around her and reflected her deep belief in the power of community and the importance of faith.

As a friend, Sandye was a treasure. Her genuine care, attentive ear, and unwavering support endeared her to many. Her friendships were built on trust, laughter, and shared experiences, and she leaves behind a circle of grateful friends who will forever cherish the moments they shared.

Sandye is survived by her loving children: her son William R. Hermans and his wife, Shana of Millbury; her daughter, Rebekka Hermans Or and her husband, Daghan of Southborough; and her daughter, Elisabeth O’Connor and her husband, Derek of Grafton.  She is also survived by her seven cherished granddaughters, Taylor Paige O’Connor, Alexandra Mae Hermans, Layce Elisabeth Hermans, Ela Elisabeth Or, Abigaile Aysil Or, Kennedy Elisabeth O’Connor, and Kellie Lynne O’Connor and her adored grandson, John Zafer Or.  She was preceded in death by her loving husband, John Elis Hermans.

Calling hours will be held Thursday, August 24th from 5PM to 8PM at Mulhane Home for Funerals, 45 N. Main Street in Millbury.

A funeral service to celebrate Sandye’s life and legacy will be held on Friday, August 25th at 11:00 am at First Congregational Church of Millbury, 148 W. Main Street, Millbury.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association at www.alz.org  reflecting Sandye’s commitment to giving and caring for those in need.
