Robert E. Hughes

Robert E. Hughes, 80, of Millbury passed away peacefully March 29, 2024 after an illness.  Born and raised in Worcester, the son of Raymond and Catherine (Sullivan) Hughes, he attended Commerce High School where he was a standout athlete and Becker Junior College.

He leaves his wife of 54 years, Irene (Dobkowski) Hughes, his son and daughter-in-law, Stephen and MaryBeth of Charlton and three precious grandchildren, Madison, Colin and Lauren of Charlton.  He also leaves his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Richard and Judith Dobkowski of Auburn, and nieces Jodie, Debbie, Donna, and Karen.

Rob was a devoted husband, father and grandfather.   He relished attending his grandchildren’s sporting events, dance recitals, traveling to Disney World, and cruising to the Caribbean as a family. 

He enjoyed watching Boston team sports and was a life-long New York Giants fan.

Rob was predeceased by his parents, his brother Donald and sister Barbara Laliberte.

He was employed for 25 years by General Cinema Corporation of Newton as Manager of Telecommunications and Information Services, retiring in 2001.

Calling hours are Wednesday, April 3 at Mulhane Home for Funerals 45 North Main St. Millbury, MA from 10:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. with a Mass of Christian burial at St. Mark’s Church, 356 Boston Road, Sutton, Ma at 1:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to St. Mark’s Haiti Fund or St. Mark’s Saint Vincent de Paul Society, 365 Boston Road, Sutton, MA.
