SUTTON - Robert E. Fisher, 72, of 19B Millers Way, died Wednesday, Aug. 28, in Beaumont Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, Northbridge after a long battle with a Parkinsons related disease.
He leaves his wife of 49 years, Marjorie (Tower) Fisher; a daughter Cheryl F. Alderman of Sutton; two sons, James A. Fisher of Shreswbury and Russell F. Fisher of Manchester, Ct.; a brother, Richard A. Fisher of Jericho, Vt; six grandchildren; nephews and niece. He was born in New York, New York, son of Frederick H. Fisher and Linna (Patterson) Fisher Wilson and formerly lived in New Jersey, then lived in Paxton for 22 years and Sutton for 3 years. He graduated in 1952 from Rutgers University in New Brunswick, New Jersey.
Mr. Fisher was a financial advisor at American Express Financial Advisors from 1986 and retired two years ago. Previously he worked for Contromatics in Ct. and Worcester Controls in West Boylston. He was a Navy Lieutenant with the Air Borne early warning Squadron. .
He was member of the First Congregational Church and previously was a member of the First Congregational Church in Paxton, where he was a choir member for 22 years. He was a member of the Theta Chi Fraternity at Rutgers University. He received the rank of Eagle Scout as a Boy Scout and was a former member of the Paxton Lions Club. He was a little league baseball and football coach for 9 years in Rivervale, N.J.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 31, in the First Congregational Church, on the Common. Burial will be private in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. There are no calling hours. Mulhane Home for Funerals 45 Main St., Millbury (
