SUTTON

SUTTON – Nancy E. (Ray) Beckwith, 91, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 30th at home surrounded by her loving family.

She was the daughter of Edith (Blanche) Brown and Malvern E. Ray. Nancy is predeceased by her husband of 70 years Robert W. Beckwith Sr., who passed away in 2021, and her sisters Judith E. Tilton and Donna L. Williams. She is survived by her six children Carolyn McCooey husband Joseph, Robert Jr. wife Donna, Michael wife Donna, Philip wife Sharon, Laura husband Dennis Mercure, David wife Kristen along with her adoring grandchildren Whitney, Kristen, Rachel John, Jennifer, Lauren, Nathaniel, Nolan, and Cameron and 5 great grandchildren Kaya, Mila, Hailey, Ezra and John.

Nancy was born in Worcester, MA. She attended Worcester schools before moving to Leominster and graduated from Leominster High School. Nancy met the love of her life, Bob, at the age of 16, they were married two years later. They started their life together in Worcester, then moved to Sutton where they raised their six children and resided together for over 65 years. Nancy along with her husband Bob were one of many families that founded Saint Marks church in Sutton. They were active members in the church where they helped run bingo, whist parties and the ham and bean suppers, all of which brought the parish families together.

Nancy devoted her entire life to the caring and wellbeing of her family. She found such joy in providing the most amazing holidays and passing down the family traditions. Thanksgiving was the holiday she loved to host every year, bringing her family and her sister's families together for over 60 years. Nancy was a woman who truly knew what was important in life: family, friends, kindness, and love. Her selfless nurturing manor will never be forgotten by those who were fortunate to have been touched by her love.

Nancy together with Bob enjoyed summer trips to the horse races in Saratoga, NY with her cousins, spending time at her daughter's house in Matunuck, RI, wintering for 40 years in Crescent Beach, FL, where they met many dear and wonderful friends. Nancy loved sitting poolside watching her grandchildren and great grandchildren learning to swim. Her greatest pleasure was being surrounded by her family. She was most proud and always described her family as her greatest accomplishment. Her absence will leave a great void in her families' lives, but the impact she had on them and her memory will live on through them.

All are welcome to celebrate and remember Nancy’s life by joining for her Funeral Mass on Saturday, May 4th at 11 a.m. in St. Mark’s Church, 356 Boston Road, Sutton, MA 01590.  Burial will follow at Howard Cemetery in Sutton.
