Maureen K. Monson

MILLBURY – Maureen K. (O’Farrell) Monson passed away peacefully on Friday April 12, 2024, at the age of 63 after a brief illness.  

Born on November 29, 1960, in Bay City, Michigan, daughter of John O’Farrell and Elizabeth (Faustin) Smith. She graduated Bay City Central High, class of 1978. After graduating, Maureen moved to Jacksonville, North Carolina where she met the love of her life. They got married in Natick, Massachusetts. After a two year stay on Camp Lejune in Jacksonville, North Carolina; they moved to Framingham, Massachusetts.

Maureen is survived by her husband of 43 years, Billy Monson; a daughter, Michelle Monson of Millbury; a daughter-in-law, Elana Bernstein of Arlington; four grandchildren, Jozef Monson-Chabot of Marlborough, Julian Bernstein-Monson of Arlington, Alexiya Brady of Millbury and Joseph Greco of Millbury She is also survived by seven siblings, Colleen O’Farrell of Bay City, MI, Louise Clark and her husband, Lon of East Tawas, MI, Bobby Gorney of East Tawas, MI, Patrick Gorney of Bay City, MI, Tommy O’Farrell and his wife, Sue of Farmington Hills, MI Shawn Werner of MI and Jerry Cronk of CA; along with many nieces and nephews.

With hard work and perseverance, she worked her way up to a Subrogation Specialist where she has worked at Amica Mutual Insurance Company for the last 32 years. In 2003, Maureen made a referral on an insurance fraud case. By denying all the associated claims in the staged motor vehicle accident, not only did she prevent over $40,000 in various claim payments, but 19 people involved were arrested. She enjoyed reading, knitting, poetry, flowers (which did not love her) and most of all loved spending time with her family.

Family and friends are invited to remember Maureen’s life by gathering for a time of visitation on Thursday, April 18^th from 4 to 7 p.m. in Mulhane Home for Funerals, 45 N. Main Street, Millbury.  Her funeral service will be celebrated on Friday, April 19^th at 11 a.m. in the funeral home, followed by committal services in Central Cemetery, Millbury.
