MILLBURY

MILLBURY– Mathew J. Decker passed away unexpectedly on October 17, 2023.

He leaves behind his mother Deborah Janise, sister Jennifer Jackson, brother in-law Mitchell Jackson, niece Felicity Jackson, and nephew Elijah Jackson of Fayetteville, NC. Aunt and cousins in RI, CT, OH, and NC. Also leaves behind his close friend Amy Smith of MA and many more friends.

Matt was born on May 11, 1974, and grew up in Newport, RI. Growing up he enjoyed playing baseball and watching all sports, but he had a true love for football. He later graduated from Rogers High School (1994) where he studied culinary and from U.R.I. (1999) with a bachelor’s in arts with a major in journalism.

He loved to watch his two favorite football teams play, Patriots and Cowboys, cooking, coffee milk, sunsets, traveling, and helping people. He explored many careers, but his true love was journalism and cooking. If you had the pleasure of meeting Matt, he would leave you with a lasting impression.

God looked around and saw an empty place in heaven. As He looked down on earth, He saw your tired, hurting soul. He wrapped you in His arms and whispered I will take care of you, my son. With the help of the angels, you were lifted to your heavenly place of rest. No longer struggling and able to heal. We will miss you my brother, find peace.

Please check on each other, forgive one another, and most of all love & except one another for who we are! Come together to laugh before you are brought together to cry the loss of loved ones.
