Kendall Alger Russell

SUTTON - Kendall Alger Russell, 76, passed away on 26 September 2024 in Brigham and Women‘s Oncology Clinic in Boston after a courageous battle with cancer.

Ken is predeceased by his parents Donald and Corinne Russell. Ken leaves his wife Gudrun Flory-Russell, Bryce Anthony Russell (son of first wife Brenda), Elisabeth Dina Russell (daughter of Gudrun), Charlotte Rose Russell, Lt Col, USAF (daughter of Gudrun), Johannes Kendall Werner Russell (son of Gudrun), Victoria Joy Tatjana Russell (daughter of Gudrun), Ellis (brother) and Nancy Russell, Corinne (sister) and Robert Allen, Gloria (sister) and Paul Schimke, 17 nieces and nephews in the US and Germany, to include Jeff Roberts (nephew).

Ken voluntarily enlisted in the US Army with his close buddies during the Vietnam war, knowing he would be receiving draft papers regardless. He served as an Infantryman up until the grade of specialist 5 promotable, before comissioning into the Officer Corps as a Communications Officer, after earning his Bachelor Degree. He served in the Vietnam war for a year as a Second Lieutenant Platoon Leader. Amongst other awards and decorations, he was awarded the Purple Heart, the National Defense Service Medal, the Good Conduct Medal, and the Sharpshooter Medal (riffle). He enjoyed playing golf, fishing, reading, shopping, going to the movies, traveling the world, and beach vacations. But, one of his favorite things was to buy, sell, and work on cars. His wish was to have Frank Sinatra’s ‚I did it my way‘ played at his funeral, as that is how he wanted to be remembered.

Family and friends are invited to gather for a time of visitation on Saturday August 23rd from noon to 1 p.m. in Mulhane Home for Funerals, 45 N. Main Street, Millbury with a funeral service to follow at 1 p.m. in the funeral home.

Please omit flowers at the memorial. In lieu of flowers, condolence cards are welcome. Flowers may be sent at the time of burial at Arlington National Cemetery, dates and details to follow.
