MILLBURY

MILLBURY - Kathryn A. (Barrett) Ayotte, 82, passed away peacefully on Friday July 25th surrounded by family at UMass Memorial Hospital in Worcester. Kathryn was born on August 18,1942, in Worcester, Massachusetts to the late Robert and Jane (Barry) Barrett.

Kathryn is survived by her daughter Susan Ayotte, of Millbury, her son Robert Ayotte and his wife Michelle of Millbury, and her daughter, Kathleen Ayotte of Shelby, North Carolina; her grandchildren Casie and Cameron Ayotte of Millbury; her sister in laws, Katherine Barrett, Ruth Barrett, Susan Barrett as well as Cynthia Douglass and her husband Richard of Plymouth Ma. As well as many nieces and nephews.

Kathryn is predeceased by her husband of 55 years, Lee Ayotte, who passed away on the same day one year ago. Her parents Robert and Jane (Barry) Barrett, her three brothers Robert Barrett, James Barrett and Thomas Barrett.

Kathryn was a graduate of North High School in Worcester, class of 1960. After high school, Kathryn attended David Hale Fanning Trade School where she studied nursing and earned her LPN license. This launched a 52-year career in nursing at Worcester City Hospital, UMass Medical, Shrewsbury Nursing Home and Notre Dame du Lac Assisted Living from where she retired in December 2013.

Kathryn always had a passion for sewing, quilting and crafts and in her retirement worked at Apple Tree Fabrics in Auburn. She also enjoyed watching her children’s activities and later in life did the same with Casie and Cameron. Her favorite football teams were the San Francisco 49ers, the Worcester State Lancers and the Millbury Woolies. She also liked the Oakland A’s and the North Carolina Tar Heels or any team that had “nice colors”. She also enjoyed listening to the Celtic Woman.

Kathryn was always available to watch Casie and Cameron and cherished being called “Mimi” or “G-Ma”. She also was a willing participant in Casie and James’ “selfies” or videos, Cameron’s video’s and March Madness Bracket Challenge and Jackie’s Tik Tok’s.

Family and friends are invited to remember Kathryn's life by gathering for a time of visitation on Wednesday, July 30th from 5 to 7 p.m. in Mulhane Home for Funerals, 45 N. Main Street, Millbury. 

Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, July 31st at 10:30 a.m. in St. Brigid Church, 59 N. Main Street, Millbury with committal service to follow in Central Cemetery, Millbury.
