WEBSTER - Joseph Archille Hervieux Jr, 75, passed away peacefully on April 12, 2026 surrounded by his loved ones.

Joe is survived by his wife, Paula (White, Noel) Hervieux, with whom he shared 27 years of marriage, filled with love, laughter, and unwavering support. Together they built a life centered on family, friendship, and devotion.

Joe leaves his stepson, Joseph F. Noel and his wife Amanda (Lord) Noel of Uxbridge, MA, who held a special place in his heart. They enjoyed conversation covering historic places of interest and the New England Patriots.

He was a proud and loving father to his three children: Jason Bumgarner of Sutton, MA; Melissa Smith of Grafton, MA; and Jennifer Taylor of Wendell, NC. Joe cherished his role as a father and took great pride in the lives his children built.

Nothing brought Joe more joy than being a grandfather. He leaves behind his grandchildren: Zoe and Christopher Bumgarner of Sutton, MA; Hunter Wilcox and CJ Osterman of Grafton, MA; Corey Plante of Wendell, NC; Caleb Roy of Charlton, MA; and Julianna Taylor of Leominster, MA. Each of them held a special place in his heart and brought him immense pride and happiness.

Joe will be deeply missed by his sisters, Sherryann Cadell and Joann Daigle, both of Millbury, MA, as well as his extended family including his mother-in-law, Marietta (Norton) White; his sister-in-law, Carol M. White; his brother-in-law, Roger White and his wife Nancy White, all of Millbury, MA; and his brother-in-law, Mark White of Andover, NH. He also touched the lives of his nieces and nephews, who will remember him for his kindness and the genuine care he showed to each of them.

Joe began working at a young age at Buster’s Egg Farm in Manchaug, MA. He later attended Millbury High School before answering the call to serve his country. On May 5, 1969, he enlisted in the United States Air Force, where he proudly completed his high school studies. After finishing basic training at Lackland Air Force Base in Texas, he received his first duty assignment with the 31st Security Police Squadron, a unit of the Pacific Air Forces headquartered in Southeast Asia. He was stationed in Cocoa Beach where he witnessed the first Apollo night flight from the roof of the barracks. Through his dedication and strong work ethic, Joe rose to the rank of Sergeant on June 1, 1971. His service to his country remained a lasting source of pride throughout his life.

Upon returning home, Joe continued his strong work ethic, first at Felter’s Mill in Millbury, MA, and later at Cumberland Farms in Westborough, MA, where he remained a dedicated and valued employee until his retirement.

Joe carried that same strength, discipline, and sense of purpose into the next chapter of his life when he began attending Alcoholics Anonymous. His commitment was ingrained in his daily life and he was an active participant in the teachings of the Matt Talbot Retreat offering an opportunity for recovering alcoholics to seek a stronger spiritual experience and enhance their sober way of life

Over time, he became a pillar of the community, offering steady guidance, compassion, and encouragement to those walking the same path. Joe had a remarkable way of connecting with people—he truly never met a stranger. His kindness, understanding, and willingness to listen touched countless lives, and many found comfort and strength in his presence. His commitment was ingrained in his daily life and he was an active member of the Matt Talbot Retreat offering an opportunity for recovering alcoholics to seek a stronger spiritual experience and enhance their sober way of life

Joe had a deep love for travel, especially the many road trips he shared with Paula. Over the years, they created countless memories alongside Carol, Joanne, and Sherry, exploring new places and enjoying each other’s company. Whether visiting historic landmarks or spending the day mining for gems, those adventures were filled with laughter, curiosity, and a true sense of togetherness.

He will be remembered for his kindness, his strength, and the love he gave so freely to those around him. His presence will be deeply missed, but his memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Jim B. From Paula: “Joe and I are forever grateful for you and the support you have given.”

Family and friends will honor and remember Joe’s life by gathering for a time of visitation on Tuesday, April 21st from 5 to 7 p.m. in Mulhane Home for Funerals, 45 N. Main Street, Millbury. His funeral service will be celebrated at 7 p.m. in the funeral home with burial to be private.
