MILLBURY – John E. “Jack” Swedberg, 89, died peacefully Monday at Brookside Rehabilitation in Webster. His family would like to thank the staff at Brookside for the wonderful care and love they gave to him.

Jack is predeceased by his parents, Bror E. and Alma (Lindberg) Swedberg. His beloved wife of 63 years, Thelma L. Swedberg, died in 2016. He leaves two daughters, Kristin Wall and her husband David, and Lisa Svedberg; two grandchildren, Rachel and Jason Wall, all of Millbury.

Jack was born in Worcester and gained a love for the wilderness at a very young age through hunting and fishing which led to his extensive exploration of Maine and Alaska and most of the country, picking up a camera to capture the beautiful wildlife he encountered. He served in the U. S. Coast Guard on the training vessel “The Eagle” during the Korean War and was a Freemason since 1952.

For fifteen years Jack served as the senior photographer for the Massachusetts Division of Fish and Wildlife where he helped lead the successful Bald Eagle restoration effort at the Quabbin Reservoir. After retiring in 1988, he continued his passion for photography and travel for decades.
