Jeffrey Alan Born of Auburn (formerly of Millbury), passed away on June 29th after a short but courageous battle with aggressive cancer. He is survived by his son, Timothy Tranter Born and his husband, Matthew Marchand, and his former wife, Pauline Tranter, all of Millbury. Jeff recently celebrated his 70th birthday on June 16.
Jeff is predeceased by his parents, Loretta (Vigeant) Born and Reinhard Born, Jr., his twin sister Joanne Born (who recently passed in August 2023), and his younger brothers, Michael and Steven Born. The family lived in Wilkinsonville before moving to Millbury in 1965.
After graduating from Millbury High School, Jeff entered the U.S. Air Force stationed in Texas and Guam for 3 years. He later worked for County Heat Treat and Wyman Gordon Company until he was injured and retired in 2003. He loved reading history books, especially about the military and World Wars. Jeff was a member of the Auburn Sportsman Club where he enjoyed many target shooting and pool rounds. He collected and refurbished antique firearms and artifacts, restoring many to pristine condition. He treasured his collection of vintage rock albums and CD’s. Jeff had artistic talent and could sketch portraits of people, recreate photos or album covers, and drew many favorite Disney and book characters for Tim’s childhood years.
