MILLBURY - James W. “Ike” Cristo, III, 73, passed away suddenly on 9/9/2023 at St. Vincent’s Hospital.
Ike leaves behind his wife of nearly 52 years, Cindy (Blain) Cristo, formerly of Louisville, Kentucky. He is survived by his children, James and wife Keri of Millbury, Chris and wife Pam of Millbury, his grandchildren Joseph, Jacob, and Jessica of Millbury, his sister Nancy and husband Les Small of Dayton, Ohio and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Ike is predeceased by his parents, James “Sonny” and Rose Cristo of Millbury as well as his brother Peter and wife Michelle of Millbury and his youngest sister Rosemary of Millbury.
Ike grew up in Millbury and enlisted in the Air Force after graduation, achieving the rank of Sargent. He met and married Cindy while they were both stationed in Mountain Home, Idaho. He returned home after his enlistment and worked as a forklift driver for Wyman-Gordon for 38 years.
Throughout his life, Ike was an avid hunter, fisherman and loved his garden. He was an active member of the Dorothy Pond Watershed Association for many years and would keep an eye on all the pond activity with his binoculars. Ike was a strong, funny, sometimes private guy but also the kind to give you the shirt off his back without asking for anything in return.
Family and friends will honor Ike’s life by gathering for a time of visitation on Thursday, Sept. 14th from 4 to 7 p.m. in Mulhane Home for Funerals, 45 N. Main Street in Millbury.
His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, Sept 15th at 10:00 a.m. in Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 1290 Grafton St in Worcester. Burial will be in Central Cemetery, Millbury.
