Hugh Donohue

March 27, 1919 — January 10, 2002

WORCESTER - Hugh F. Donohue Sr., 82, of 3 Tatnuck Gardens, died Thursday, Jan. 10, at home, after a brief illness.

He leaves his wife of 57 years, Elizabeth (Regan) Donohue; three sons, Hugh F. Donohue Jr. of Shrewsbury, Dennis P. Donohue of Janesville, Wisconsin and Kevin J. Donohue of Merrimack, N.H.; a daughter, Patricia A. Ullstrom of Merrimack, N.H.; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; nephews and nieces. He is predecesed by a son, Thomas V. Donohue and two brothers, Timothy P. Donohue and John Donohue. He was born in Worcester, son of Timothy and Anna (Horgan) Donohue and has lived here most of his life. He graduated from the former Commerce High School in 1937.

Mr. Donohue was a letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service in Worcester for 31 years, retiring in 1978. He was in the Navy Armed Guard Unit during WW II, serving in the North Atlantic and Mediterranean and Pacific Theaters.

He was a member of Blessed Sacrament Church, the Alhambra Council Knight of Columbus, the Bancroft Chapter of the American Association of Retired Persons, the Tatnuck Post American Legion, the National Association of Letter Carriers, a former scribe of that association and former president of the associations Branch 12.

A Memorial Mass will be held Saturday, Jan. 19, at 10 a.m. in Blessed Sacrament Church, 555 Pleasant St. Burial will be private in St. JohnTM)s Cemetery. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Covenant House-NY, 460 West 41st St., N.Y., N.Y. 10036. Mulhane Home for Funerals, 45 Main St., Millbury is in charge of the arrangements.
