Germaine Legassey

RICHMOND, VT. - Germaine G. (Pelletier) Legassey, 83, of 141 Mountain View Road, Richmond, Vt., formerly of South Grafton, Ma., Framingham, Ma.and Southbridge, Ma., died Friday, Dec. 21, in Fletcher Allan Health Care, Burlington, Vt., after a long battle with ParkinsonTM)s Disease

She leaves her husband of 58 years, George Legassey; three daughters, Patricia Thomson, with whom she lived and Jeanne Legassey, both of Richmond and Judith Volinski of Andover, Ma.; a son, Paul Legassey of Colchester; a sister, Arcelia Lucienne Mahoney of Northbridge, Ma.; four grandsons; a great-grandson; a nephew and a niece. She was born in Ville Marie, P.Q. Canada, daughter of Telesphore and Virginia (St. Martin) Pelletier and was raised in South Grafton, Ma. She and her husband moved to Gardner, Ma in 1947 and then to Framingham, Ma. in 1959. From 1965 to 1970 they lived in Newport, R. I. before returning to Southbridge, Ma. from 1970 to 1998, when they moved to Vermont. She graduated from Grafton High School, where she was the class Valedictorian and then attended Becker College, both in Massachusetts.

Mrs. Legassey was employed in the clerical department at the Wuskanut Mills, in South Grafton, Ma. for six years. She later worked at the Gardner Trust Company, the Southbridge Savings Bank and for the Town of Southbridge, all in Massachusetts.

A funeral will be held Thursday, Dec. 27, from Mulhane Home for Funerals, 45 Main St., Millbury, Ma., with a Mass at 11 a.m. in St. James Church, 89 Main St., South Grafton, Ma. Burial will be in St. PatrickTM)s Cemetery, Whitinsville, Ma. Calling hours are 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 26, in the funeral home.
