Gary J. Bunnewith

d. April 14, 2024

MILLBURY

Gary J. Bunnewith, 63, the man of much love and fight, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 14th surrounded by his loving family.

Gary leaves behind his wife and best friend Cindy (Platukis) Bunnewith, whom he would have been married to for 40 years this May, and his children Corey and his wife Colleen, Brandon and his girlfriend Adrienne, and Marissa and her fiancé Michael. He also leaves behind his sister Debra Burke. Gary was predeceased by his parents, John and Judith Bunnewith, and his sister Karen Henault. He is survived by nieces, nephews, many close friends and work acquaintances, including his "work wife", Dave.

Gary was the Quality Man. He worked in the medical device industry for over 35 years, and he was involved in developing devices that made surgeries less invasive with the latest, in development, an innovative bone glue. From Schott Fiber Optics to Bard to Boston Scientific to TechDevice, and finally to RevBio, Gary was a quality force to be reckoned with. However, those who were mentored by him knew his soft side and appreciated how he guided them to grow into their positions. He called them his "youngins."

Outside of work, Gary's family was his life. He loved coaching and was involved in baseball, basketball, and Cub Scouts Millbury Pack 109. Often times, he was found jumping to and from fields and courts, even on the same day, there was not one event he wanted to miss. In all of these, “Patience was a Virtue” he would say and smile.  As his children grew older, he was there for them at all Lacrosse, Golf, Baseball, Softball, Track & Field, and Volleyball events. He loved taking his family camping and going on adventures up and down the East Coast. Once the camping travel days were over, a seasonal spot in Kennebunkport was chosen so he and Cindy could have their much loved daily beach walks and talks. Otherwise, Gary was a self-proclaimed "simple man" and his favorite moments involved spending time in the backyard on Dorothy Pond, cooking his famous wings and ribs, and taking a couple of laps on the Pontoon boat during the famous Millbury sunsets.

Gary was a man who felt incredibly loved and blessed, and he was grateful to have the support of his friends and family throughout his life. In his final days, what gave him comfort and peace was knowing that his children had significant others who would love and support them forever. He wanted to express his gratitude to Colleen, Adrienne, and Michael for their unwavering love and support.

The family thanks his doctor of Oncology, Ming-Jin Wang at UMass Lakeside, and every nurse, aide, front desk worker, and his favorite nurse Laura P and favorite patient advocate, Ailene, for their wonderful care over the past 2 years. They pray that one day there will be no more cancer. They ask that flowers be omitted and that donations, if you wish to make them, be made to their son Brandon's 8th-year Pan Mass Ride at the link below. Even $1 takes them that much closer. Thank you from the bottom of their hearts. https://profile.pmc.org/BB0281
