MILLBURY

MILLBURY - Gail A. (Army) Mathews, 90, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 15, 2024 in her home, with her devoted husband of 31 years, Earl J. Mathews by her side.

 

Gail was one of five children, the daughter of the late Neapolean and Deliah Army. Gail was a lifelong resident of Millbury. She was a graduate of Millbury High School. Gail was a devout Catholic and a parishioner of Our Lady of the Assumption Church in Millbury. 

When Gail was young she worked as a sales clerk and a florist, but her true passion was baking. She was known to family and friends for her delicious pastries and cakes made with beauty and love. Gail had the greenest of thumbs and took pride in her plants. Gail was never too far from her fur babies, Riff and Katie. She enjoyed bringing together family and friends, hosting holidays and cooking up meals for those she loved. 

Gail leaves behind her loving husband Earl J. Mathews of Millbury, step-son Earl J. Mathews and his wife Melanie Mathews of Douglas, 5 step-grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and loving friends. She is preceded in death by her first husband Michael DiMarzio, her brothers Donald Army, Wesley Army, and Larry Army, and her sister Elaine Berthiaume.

There will be a Graveside Service at 1 p.m. Tuesday March 26th in Central Cemetery, West and Waters in Millbury.    

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made Our Lady of the Assumption Church, mailing address 59 Main St. Millbury, MA 01527.
