MILLBURY – Francis J. McKeon, 76, passed away peacefully in St. Vincent’s Hospital on September 11 following a courageous battle with cancer.
Francis is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Mary-Jo, sons Sean and his wife Dianna, and Ryan and his wife Kathleen, three beloved grandchildren: Evan, Francis, and Mary, sister Constance Bunker and her husband David, sister-in-law Roxanne McKeon and numerous nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his sister Catherine Hastings and brother Kevin McKeon.
Francis grew up in Columbus Park and graduated from South High School in 1967 and Nicholls College in 1972 with a degree in business administration. He worked for many years as a plant supervisor at Handi Pad / Stafford Labs Co and in various supervisory positions at Table Talk Pies. He was a passionate reader, card and chess player, traveler, and avid Boston Celtics fan.
Francis spent his later years seeing the world with his beloved wife Mary-Jo and friends, making his grandchildren smile, and keeping up with pop culture and current events. He will be remembered by everyone who knew him for his selflessness, sense of humor, lighthearted pranks, fun spirit, and readiness to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.
Family and friends will honor and remember Francis’ life by gathering for a time of visitation on Tuesday, Sept. 16th from 4 to 7 p.m. in Mulhane Home for Funerals, 45 N. Main Street, Millbury. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, Sept. 17th at 10:30 a.m. in St. Brigid Church, 59 N. Main Street, Millbury. Burial will be private.
