Ferol Ann Hagstrom

December 12, 1933 — June 27, 2025

ROCHDALE/MILLBURY

Ferol Ann Hagstrom (Lachapelle), 91 of Rochdale pass away peacefully on Friday, June 27 at Life Care Center in Auburn. She was predeceased by her husband Charles who died in 1989 and her son Charles Jr who died in 2023.

She is survived by her sisters Edith Anderson and her husband Arvid of Colchester, CT, Nancy Felton of Littleton, MA; her daughters, Christine LeBlanc and her husband Paul of Auburn, Ferol Smith and her husband Ethan of Rochdale; three grandchildren: Erik Hagstrom and his wife Kristina of Coventry, RI, David Hagstrom and his wife Adrienne of Millbury and Danielle Hagstrom and her partner Jim Carlson of Auburn. She also leaves three step grandchildren, Eric Smith and his fiancé Sara Yvonne, Meghan Smith and her partner Kerry Lorraine and Jonathan Smith; her great grandchildren EJ Hagstrom, Kaydence Hagstrom, Wyatt Hagstrom and Karaline Hagstrom, and two step great grandchildren, Lucas and Rose Smith. She also leave her niece and friend Patty Flewelling and her husband Paul.

Ferol graduated from Millbury High School and Salter Secretarial School and lived in Millbury for most of her life before moving in with her daughter in Rochdale in 2008. She worked for the Town of Millbury as Administrative Assistant to the Board of Selectmen for 20 years, retiring in 1996. She was a poll worker in Millbury for many years. Ferol was a lifelong member of Millbury Federated Church, serving on many committees and boards. She served in the Clown Ministry as clown "Gabby Gus" and taught Sunday School for 25 years. She also founded the "Needle Guild", a group dedicated to needlecraft. In addition, Ferol was a lifetime member of Millbury Historical Commission and former member of the Millbury Grange. After retiring, she volunteered at the Millbury Free Health Clinic and Millbury Congregate Housing.

Ferol enjoyed cross-stitching, ceramics, and reading. She was an avid baker, making cookies and breads for many groups and occasions. In her later years, she enjoyed bird watching and completing circle word puzzles. She has a wonderful sense of humor and enjoyed life and loved her family.

The family wishes to thank the wonderful staff at Life Care Center in Auburn for their compassionate care.

Family and friends are invited to remember and celebrate Ferol's life by gathering for a time of visitation on Wednesday, July 2nd from 5pm to 8pm in Mulhane Home for Funerals, 45 N. Main Street, Millbury. 

Her funeral service will be on Thursday, July 3rd at 10:00 am in the Millbury Federated Church, 20 Main Street, Millbury with burial following at Central Cemetery.
