Edward Morgan, Jr.

d. August 16, 2018

Edward Kendall Morgan Jr. went to be with the Lord on August 16, 2018. He was born on April 23, 1930 in Worcester, MA to Kendall & Dorothy Morgan. He grew up in Millbury, MA and this is where "Buddy" developed his love of animals and farming. While other kids had part-time jobs delivering newspapers or mowing lawns, Buddy got a job milking cows. He was always happiest when he was working around animals. Because of this he entered into a high school agricultural program at North High in Worcester, and later graduated from the University Of Massachusetts Amherst Stockbridge School Of Agriculture in 1950 with an associate's degree in Animal Husbandry. After graduation Edward enlisted in the Air Force and received training as a radar and avionics technician and this began his second passion, his love of aircraft and especially fighter jets. While in the Air Force he met and married his first wife, the former Betty Billings, in 1952 and they eventually had 5 wonderful children together. After leaving the Air Force Ed went to work for Lockheed Aircraft Company at Edwards AFB near Palmdale, CA where he began a long career in aviation. He worked on various programs for the company including the F-111 fighter program, the Space Shuttle, and the F-16 Falcon fighter jet. Besides working for Lockheed, General Dynamics, and other aircraft companies Ed continued with his other passions. He settled his family on a farm just outside Lancaster, CA and was later elected to the schoolboard for the Wilsona School District. In his spare time Ed also owned and operated the Littlerock Feed and Lumber store for over 10 years and it was quite successful. The feed store was really a family project though as he ran it with the help of his children, and used this to teach the value of hard work and taking the initiative, values he always prided himself on.

By the early 80's, Ed began to hear the siren's call of exotic lands and in 1982 he was sent to Egypt on behalf of General Dynamics. He spent several years overseas, moving from place to place before finally returning, and retired from Lockheed Martin in 1994. He met his second wife, the former Elizabeth (Liz) Bononcini Lamm, after returning from overseas and they married after his retirement. Ed carried his strong work ethic on into retirement and continued farming and raising cattle, took on various part time jobs, and helped raise a second family into adulthood where he also taught them the value of hard work and unwavering support. Ed also shared his other passion, his love of opera and music, with his wife Liz and together they attended many concerts and performances whenever they could.

Ed was preceded in death by his parents, and is survived by his wife Liz Morgan, his step-children Matthew Lamm and wife Kasumi, Jackie Wagner and husband Brad, children Pam Mastoras, Kendall Morgan and wife Mila, Diane Verdaasdonk and husband Mike, Cary Morgan and wife Carla, Kim Morgan and wife Anne, sister Kay Lachance and husband Roland, and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
