WESTBOROUGH/MILLBURY - Douglas E. Vigneau, 66, passed away peacefully on February 1, 2026 after a hard-fought battle with cancer.
Doug leaves his cherished and devoted wife of 36 years, Elizabeth (Rose), his loving children Sarah and husband Jimmy Christensen, Guy and fiancé Sydney Tobin; siblings Lanette Moore and husband Jay; Robert Vigneau, Jr. and wife Leslie, Lisa Stettler and husband Jeff. He leaves many nieces and nephews and their delightful families. Doug was predeceased by his parents Bud and Polly, and brother Rick.
Doug and Beth were a deeply loving couple who cherished every moment they spent together. They were rarely apart-whether running simple errands, taking daily walks or hikes, enjoying time away, sharing dinners and a favorite TV show or simply being in one another's company. Through life's joys and difficulties they steadfastly supported one another. Beth remained unwaveringly by Doug's side throughout his cancer journey, never missing an appointment or treatment until his peaceful transition from this life to the next. Doug deeply adored his family and expressed that to his beloved Sarah and Guy for whom he was immensely proud. He was especially joyful at the prospect of becoming a grandfather, a role he looked forward to with great excitement and tenderness.
Doug graduated from UMass-Amherst and Ohio University and was employed in various roles in environmental science and engineering for more than forty years. Post college, Doug enjoyed numerous sporting activities, including men's basketball, softball, soccer and later on golf with his many life-long friends in Westborough. With his marriage and birth of his children he worked tirelessly to provide for his family. In addition to expecting and encouraging their best efforts in academics and sports, he coached Sarah and Guy in soccer, basketball and Little League baseball. Those years brought him great joy and memories and he continued to embrace their involvement in high school sports, college experiences and graduation.
Family and friends are invited to remember Doug’s life gathering for a time of visitation on Monday, Feb. 9th from 4 to 7 p.m. in Mulhane Home for Funerals, 45 N. Main Street, Millbury.
His funeral service will be celebrated on Tuesday, Feb. 10th at 11 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial will be private.
