Dorothy Horne-Hersey

July 10, 1902 — November 23, 2002

WESTBOROUGH - Dorothy A. (Freeman) Horne-Hersey, 100, formerly of Maple St., in Millbury, died Saturday, Nov. 23, in Beaumont Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing Center.

Her first husband, Waldo W. Horne died in 1985 and her second husband Henry D. Hersey died in 1992. She leaves Cousins. She was born in Boston, daughter of Harold W. and Katherine (MacDonald) Freeman and has lived in in Millbury for many years before moving to Westborough in 1987 She graduated from Worcester City Hospital School of Nursing in 1925, with honors.

Mrs. Horne-Hersey was a private duty nurse for 10 years, retiring in 1935.

She was a member the Worcester City Hospital School of Nursing Alumni Association, the Worcester Art Museum, the Mass. Archaeological Society, a life member of the Willard Clock Museum in Grafton, a member of the Millbury WomanTM)s Club, a charter member of the Millbury and the Sutton Historical Society, a member of the Grafton Historical Society and a member of the Board of Directors of the former the Millbury District Nursing Society, for 20 years.

A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 26 in Central Cemetery, Millbury. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Memorial Fund of the First Congregational Church, 148 West Main St., Millbury, Ma. 01527. Mulhane Home for Funerals, 45 Main St., Millbury ( www.mulhane.com ) is in charge of the arrangements.
