Donna M. Duggan Edwards

SUTTON – Donna M. Duggan Edwards, loving wife, mother, and friend, passed away peacefully on April 24, surrounded by her family after a long illness.

Born and raised in Green Bay, Wisconsin, Donna was the youngest daughter of Patrick and Myrtle (Healy) Duggan.

Donna leaves her husband of 28 years, Bruce; sons Patrick (Katie Guilbeault) of Wakefield, Rhode Island, and Willem of Sutton; siblings Bonnie Slatky (Paul), Colleen Shrovnal (Steve), and David Duggan (Penny), all of Green Bay, Wisconsin; her dear friends, Julie Nader, Marcia Pratt, Margie Spino, the Boston Family, and her Spino sisters; many aunts, uncles, cousins; and nieces and nephews Brandon, Charity, Jake, Jeremiah, Matthew, Nicholas and Allison. She was predeceased by her parents, brother Michael, and brother-in-law Scott.

A graduate of the University of Wisconsin – Eau Claire and Boston College, Donna retired from Perkins School for the Blind after 38 years as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired, Orientation and Mobility specialist. She was also an instructor of Orientation and Mobility at the Graduate College of Education at the University of Massachusetts Boston and the Specialty Education Department, Visually Impaired Studies at Boston College.

Donna was proud of her Irish heritage, Wisconsin roots, and being a diehard cheesehead and Packers fan. Living on Lake Singletary in Sutton, Donna loved kayaking at sunrise, evening boat rides, the bald eagles and blue herons, and hosting family and friends. She also cherished her day trips and time at the cottage on Lovell Lake with Auntie Barbara.

In lieu of flowers, her family requests donations in Donna’s memory be made to the Lake Singletary Watershed Association, P.O. Box 332, Sutton, MA, 01590.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday, April 30, from 4:00p to 7:00p, at Mulhane Home for Funerals, 45 North Main Street, Millbury, MA, 01527. Services will be private.
