PAWLEY’S ISLAND, SC – Cheryl A. (Carter) Cunha, 66, formerly of Millbury, passed away peacefully on Friday, Dec. 26th surrounded by her loving family.
Cheryl leaves her husband/companion of almost 30 years, Richard; two children, Rachel (fiancé Tomi) and Brian (wife Kelsey); two step-children, Tim (wife Terri) and Peter (fiancé Rachael); 8 grandchildren, Connor, Ella, Brayden, Lucas, Brayden, Jayden, Mila, Benjamin (due February 2026); two sisters, Donna and Susan; many nieces and nephews, and countless friends whom she held equally as dear. She is predeceased by her parents Allen Sr and Dorothy, and a brother Allen Jr.
Cheryl found joy in life’s simple and meaningful moments. She loved spending time at the beach, especially shelling along the shore, and found peace in tending to her garden. An avid reader, she rarely went long without a Stephen King novel nearby and delighted in a good scary movie. She cherished music and the excitement of attending concerts with friends, moments that reflected her vibrant spirit and deep appreciation for togetherness. Cheryl deeply loved spending her days with the love of her life, Richard, and took great pride and happiness in realizing their shared dream of living in South Carolina in the home they had always imagined. Family meant everything to Cheryl, and hosting Christmas gatherings held a special place in her heart. Nothing brought her more happiness than time spent with her grandchildren, creating memories filled with laughter and love. Cheryl’s love, laughter, and presence will be deeply missed, but it brings comfort to know she will be reunited in heaven with her mother, father, brother, and her beloved dog, Brickley.
Family and friends will honor and remember Cheryl’s life by gathering for a time of visitation on Monday, January 5th from 4 to 7 p.m. in Mulhane Home for Funerals, 45 N. Main Street, Millbury. Her funeral service will follow the visitation at 7 p.m. in the funeral home with burial to be private.
