SUTTON - Catherine F. Laucis, 68, was granted her angel wings surrounded by loved ones on 5/5/22 at 11:11 a.m. after a long and courageous battle with brain cancer.
Growing up in Millbury, she could often be found working at the Flying Saucer, The Fair, or playing basketball at the courts on Greenwood Street. Her pleasant personality was contagious to everyone she met. Cathy will be remembered by many as a vibrant spirit with a catching smile.
If Cathy wasn't restoring old homes, including her own, she was refinishing furniture, antiquing, planning adventures or she just enjoyed walking the beach at the Laucis family hideaway on Cape Cod. The simplest pleasures in life brought her great joy.
The Laucis Family loved spending time together in the kitchen and in the garden, either creating delicious meals, canning vegetables, or dressing a deer to share with extended family and friends. Anyone around would be included and welcomed as part of the family. Their infamous Christmas party extravaganza was awaited year-round by many.
Cathy worked and was devoted to her management positions at FedEx for many years. She retired due to her illness.
Cathy leaves behind her loving sister Diane Laucis-Olson and her husband Olof (Fred) of Charlton, as well as many cousins. She also leaves behind her constant companion and beloved "Alleycat" in the care of someone very special. She was predeceased by her father, Albert Laucis and her mother Rita (Kachnowicz) Laucis.
The family would like to express their never-ending appreciation to Notre Dame Hospice for their kindness, compassion, and constant care of Cathy. Please omit flowers, memorial donations in Catherine's name may be made to: Notre Dame Health Care Hospice, 555 Plantation Street, Worcester, MA 01605.
Family and friends will celebrate Cathy’s life with her funeral Mass on Thursday, May 19th at 10:30 a.m. in St. Mark’s Church, 356 Boston Road in Sutton.
