Carol Marlborough passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, at her home in Webster, Massachusetts, on December 20, 2025, at the age of 70, following an unexpected and brief battle with cancer. She leaves behind a lasting legacy of love, laughter, and family.
Carol was born on November 7, 1955, in Worcester, Massachusetts, to Charles Williams and Dorothy Burtt, both of whom predeceased her. She is survived by her loving husband of 53 years, Michael Marlborough of Webster; her treasured daughters, Kelly Woll of Millbury and Kerri Heenan of Webster; and her adored son-in-law, Christopher Woll of Millbury. She was a devoted grandmother, better known as Meme, to Mackenzie Woll, Michael Woll, Camden Heenan, Riley Heenan, and Ayden Heenan, and a cherished great-grandmother to Easton Woll.
Carol is also survived by her brother, Gary Williams, and his wife, Judy Williams. She was joyfully reunited in heaven with her brother, Glen Williams. She is additionally survived by many dear nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, including her niece, Chrystal Damian, whom she lovingly cared for over many years.
Carol grew up and graduated high school in Worcester before moving to Millbury to raise her family. She worked in food service as a district manager, a role she truly loved. She thoroughly enjoyed her work, and people loved working for her because of her upbeat personality and big heart. She continued in this role before retiring due to her health. Several years later, she required a kidney transplant. None of her close family members were able to donate, so her family turned to Facebook to find a living donor while she underwent dialysis. Holly, from Montana, quickly reached out after being touched by Carol’s story and seeing how deeply she was loved by her family. Holly donated her kidney to Carol in April 2018 at Mass General Hospital in Boston, under the expert care of Dr. Kassem Safa, Carol’s transplant nephrologist. Together, Holly and Dr. Safa gave Carol and her family eight additional beautiful years.
To know Carol was to be cared for. She loved her family deeply and was immensely proud of the life and family she built with her husband, Mike. She was especially proud that her daughters became nurses and took such compassionate care of her in her later years. Carol felt a deep sense of comfort knowing Kelly and Kerri were by her side. The true matriarch of the family, she found joy in cooking for others, hosting gatherings, helping those around her, and sharing stories. She never followed a recipe, as love was always the secret ingredient. Her love of cuisine also inspired her enjoyment of travel; she went on the trip of a lifetime to Italy in 2019 with her granddaughter and friends who became like family. She also loved the beach, playing cards and games, trying new restaurants, music, dancing, and planning parties and events.
Carol was selfless and loved to help others. She had a deep passion for supporting veterans and was a proud member of the Vernon Hill American Legion Ladies Auxiliary Post 435. In October 2025, she was honored with an award recognizing her dedication and service to veterans. Throughout the years, she also volunteered her time at her grandchildren’s school and at St. Vincent’s Hospital.
Her positivity, pride in her family, and appreciation for life will live on through all who were fortunate enough to know and love her. Carol’s family, along with hospice care from Notre Dame Health Care, ensured she experienced a peaceful final chapter of her journey.
Family and friends are invited to remember and celebrate Carol's life by gathering for a time of visitation on Saturday, December 27th, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m., followed by a brief service at 3:00 p.m. in Mulhane Home for Funerals, 45 N. Main Street, Millbury.
