MILLBURY- It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Carol Ann Avedisian on April 24, 2026, a beloved wife and mother known for her warmth, compassion, and generosity.
Carol is survived by her husband, best friend and partner in life, James S. Avedisian of Millbury, and her beloved daughter, Virginia Mary Avedisian of North Palm Beach, Florida. She is predeceased by her parents Albert and Virginia Otis of Worcester and a brother Richard Otis of Leominster.
A devout Catholic, Carol was a member of St. John’s Church in Worcester. She graduated from Doherty High School and Worcester State College, where she earned a Master’s degree in Education. She dedicated over 30 years to the Worcester Public Schools, first as a librarian at Providence Street Jr. High and later as a kindergarten and 5th grade teacher in several elementary schools throughout the city. She loved children and took their education to heart.
Carol found joy in simple and meaningful moments - especially being at the beach, where she found something spiritual in watching the waves roll in. She also enjoyed playing the slot machines at Twin Rivers, Foxwoods and overnight trips to Atlantic City. She carried a wonderful sense of humor throughout her life, often saying, “If you can’t take a joke, you shouldn’t have been born.” Her laughter, strength and zest for life inspired all who knew her to live authentically and unapologetically.
Her generosity was well known - no matter the situation, she always put others before herself, embodying humility in its truest form.
Family and friends are invited to remember Carol’s life by gathering for a time of visitation on Thursday May 7th from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. in Mulhane Home for Funerals, 45 N. Main St., in Millbury. A funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial will announced shortly.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you honor Carol’s memory in a way that reflects her spirit of kindness, generosity, and care for others.
