GRAFTON – Beth Mary Horgan (Butrymowicz), 70, passed away peacefully on August 17, 2025 at UMass Memorial University Hospital surrounded by her loving family.
Beth was the devoted wife of William Horgan for 44 years, proud mother of Benjamin Horgan, mother-in-law of Hillary Horgan, and the most proud and loving grandmother of Finley Horgan. In addition to her immediate family, Beth is also survived by her cousins, Tracy Wilkinson, Timothy Minkler (Nancy), Joyce Minkler and Tom Minkler.
Beth was predeceased by her parents, Edmund Butrymowicz and Patricia Butrymowicz (Fox), grandmother, Madeline Fox, grandfather, Bernard Fox, uncle, Robert Minkler and aunt, Ellen Woodstock.
Beth graduated from Fitchburg State University in 1976 with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. She served as a nurse at St. Vincent’s Hospital, Albany Area Visiting Nurses Association, Chocktaw Nation Health Services, and The College of the Holy Cross. South Grafton Elementary School was lucky to have Beth as their school nurse, where she served for over 30 years and retired in 2023. Beth had a special place in her heart for the care of children, especially those with intellectual and developmental disabilities and special needs.
Beth loved antique stores, traveling, and attending Native American Pow-Wows with her husband. Beth could often be found bargain hunting at consignment shops, trying to find a good deal and identifying the perfect gift for anyone and everyone in her life. Beth’s Catholic faith was an important part of her life and she was an active member of Our Lady of Hope.
Beth’s granddaughter, Finley, brought her unimaginable joy, and Beth adored the special time they got to spend together. Especially important to Beth was her role as “Fairy Godmother” to her three goddaughters, Caroline Horgan, Shannon Horgan, and Lauren Taylor.
Family was everything to Beth, and nobody was a stranger. She was always the life of the party, welcoming everyone with open arms, warm hospitality, and reaching out with a kind note to share her love. She could often be found impersonating Elvis or playing Wayne Newton, Meatloaf, and Jimmy Buffett as the soundtrack at one of her extravagant dinners or pool parties. Beth made a friend and built a community wherever she went. She will forever be remembered for the laughter, joy, and care she brought to each person she met.
