Sutton, Massachusetts– With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Betty Hodgdon, age 90,
who passed away on Friday, November 24. She is predeceased by her parents, Henry and
Margorie Martin, her daughter Suzanne, her husband, Roy Hodgdon, as well as her siblings Dick
and Sonny Martin.
She is survived by her son Marc and daughter-in-law Sue, her grandchildren Brandy Watson
(Ken Watson) and Allen Hodgdon as well as her greatgrandchildren Ryan and Marissa Watson.
Betty was born in Maine, spent most of her married life in New Hampshire and moved in
retirement, with her husband Roy, to Florida. After his passing she spent a few years in
Maryland, Florida, and then in Massachusetts where she spent her last years at Blackstone
Health and Rehab Center in Whitinsville.
Betty worked many years in the insurance business while also raising a family. She easily made
friends and enjoyed playing Pictionary with many of those friends. She also developed a strong
bond with close friends like Sue Ernshaw and Carol Clarke. Above all else, family was important
to Betty and she often commented on how close she and her siblings were, enjoying many
years together. Precious times spent with her grandchildren were always close to her heart.
Betty and her son Marc often helped each other persevere through tough times and through all
of Betty’s 90 years she showered many with her love.
The family would like to thank the very special staff at Blackstone, as well as specifically thank
Katie, Kim, and Tina for their support of Betty and her family through the last years of Betty’s
life.
A family gathering will be held this summer to honor and remember Betty and her life
on this earth.
