Barry J Astukewicz, 72, died Wednesday, October 20, 2021 at Advinia Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Northbridge. He resided in Sutton for thirty-eight years with his partner, Marie Jolly. Barry leaves four daughters, Barbara Heney of Worcester, Sharon Duquette and her husband Henry of Millbury, Linda Hicks and her husband William of Sutton and Kate Dansereau and her partner David McLaughlin of Putnam, CT. He leaves nine grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, two sisters Pamela O’Brien of FL and Valerie Jackson of Worcester as well as his niece Kelly and nephews Kevin, Joseph and Michael and their families. Barry was predeceased by his parents, Konstanty and Ethel (Staruk) Astukewicz, brother, David Astukewicz, grandson, Michael Wilga and best friends, Jim and Jessica O’Rourke.
Barry grew up in Leicester and graduated from St. Peter’s High School and Quinsigamond College and earned his law degree from New England School of Law. Barry practiced law in Milford for thirty-three years retiring in 2018. Barry was a Veteran of the U.S. Army serving during the Vietnam Era. “Sir” as he was lovingly called by all, enjoyed working in his yard and was famous for his Labor Day cookout featuring steaks cooked on a charcoal grill and horseshoe tournaments, but he especially enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
The family would like to thank the staff and hospice at Advinia for the excellent care and compassion he received while there.
There are no calling hours at his request. There will be a Mass at 11:00 am on Thursday, October 28th at Christ the King Church, 1052 Pleasant Street, Worcester. Please join the family in a Celebration of Life on Sunday, October 31, 2021 from 12:00 to 3:00 pm at the VFW, 16 South Main Street, Millbury.
