HARWICH- Barbara L. Simpson, 87, died peacefully on December 21, 2025 surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Worcester, the daughter of the late Joseph H. Daviau and Lucy T. (DiPadua) Daviau. She was predeceased by her loving and devoted husband of 59 years, Robert L. Simpon.
Barbara leaves behind her 5 children, Robert “Bobby” and wife Deborah of Putnam, CT, Mark of S. Grafton, MA, Karen Simpson Martin and her husband Wayne of Harwich, MA, Doreen McKee of Moultonborough, NH, and Joseph. Her beloved grandchildren, Melanie, Jessica, Jennifer, Mark, Drew, Heather, Brittney, Jacqueline and Kimberly along with 15 great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren which she adored more than life itself. And we cannot forget the number of nieces and nephews and cousins that touched her life every day. Sisters Beatrice Pinkham and her husband Walter of E. Brookfield, Ma., and Linda Lavoie of Worcester, Ma., and her sisters-in-law Marilyn Trapp of Marblehead, Ma and Rheba Jo Simpson of Great Falls, Mt.
Barbara attended Fanning Trade School in Worcester where she learned to be a seamstress. Barbara made many beautiful quilts by hand for her family and friends. She also crocheted beautiful blankets for anyone in need. She was very creative with crafting and cooking, best known for her meatballs and lasagna and don’t forget the Italian cookies. She loved her family more than life itself. She loved being around the grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. Her home was a gathering place for all the neighborhood kids growing up if they had a question, she would answer whether or not you wanted to hear it, that was mom.
Family and friends are invited to gather for Barbara’s Funeral Mass on Jan. 12th at 11 a.m. in St. Brigid Church, 59 N. Main Street, Millbury, MA 01527 with burial to follow in West Sutton Cemetery.
