Barbara E. (Mazzeo) Buduo, 92, of West Palm Beach Florida, passed away peacefully in Dennis, Massachusetts on Monday, August 4, 2025 with her family by her side.
Barbara is predeceased by her husband of 69 years, Daniel A. Buduo Sr., who passed on Memorial Day of this year. She is survived by her children, Dr. Debra Buduo of Brookline, David Buduo, of Worcester, Dennis Buduo of Millbury, Daniel A. Buduo, Jr. and his wife Julia of Worcester; grandchildren and great grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Joan Mazzeo; along with several beloved nieces and nephews and extended family members.
Barbara is predeceased by her parents, Frank A. Mazzeo Sr. and Ida E. (Paletta) Mazzeo; her sister, Angela M. Bailey and her brother, Dr. Frank A. Mazzeo Jr.
Barbara grew up on 104 Main St. in Millbury, where her love of music was rooted in her childhood home. Her mom, Ida and sister, Angela were piano/organists, and her father, Frank as well as her uncles and cousins were professional violinists. Her mother would frequently gather family around the piano for sing-alongs, a joyful tradition in their household. Barbara had an extraordinary ear for music. She could hear a song once and translate it effortlessly into piano notes despite never having taken a formal lesson. Her musical talent was a natural gift she nurtured throughout her life. Barbara was also a gifted singer, lending her musical talent alongside her mom and sister to Saint Brigid’s Church both in its original location and its current building where she and Daniel became the first to receive the sacrament of marriage. In her younger years, she was part of the Sunset Trio and later performed songs in various variety shows.
In her early years she and Daniel raised their family in Worcester. Christmas Eve became a cherished ritual marked by laughter, music, and her famous bouillabaisse, a seafood stew served over linguine that family looked forward to year after year. Barbara loved to gather her family and friends and celebrate life and just about anything. A little later in life, summers were spent on Cape Cod where she created extensive Hydrangea Gardens with the magenta color being her favorite. Barbara also enjoyed creating artwork. She enjoyed painting on canvas and spending her time doing creative things with her lifelong friend Dotty. She traveled extensively with her husband to Aruba for about 40 years and visited several countries, including England, France, Italy, New Zealand and Australia. Eventually Barbara and Daniel settled in West Palm Beach Florida surrounded by sunshine and the comfort of family and lifelong friends. Joy and laughter are your first thoughts when thinking of Barbara. Her infectious laugh was the kind to light up any room.
The family would like to thank the hospice staff at VNA of Cape Cod, especially our nurse Karen. A special thanks to her caregivers Susie "Q", Ann, Cheryl and Fiona who's meticulous attention to her personal needs in her final weeks provided her with the comfort, dignity and grace we all so wished for our mother.
