Anthony Zanauskas

December 17, 1919 — April 23, 2001

GRAFTON - Anthony J. 'A2Z' Zanauskas, 81, of 150 Pleasant St., South Grafton, died Monday, April 23, in UMASS Memorial Medical Center, Memorial Campus, Worcester, after a short illness..

He leaves his wife of 57 years, Bronia V. (Sokolnikas) Zanauskas; two sons, Daniel B. Zanauskas of Auburn and David J. Zanauskas of Spencer; a daughter, Donna P. Zanauskas of Oxford; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; nephews and nieces. He is pre-deceased by a brother and two sisters of Lithuania and a sister Doris Wenc of Grafton. He was born in Worcester, son of John and Ellen (Tauperis) Zanauskas and has lived in South Grafton for 47 years.

Mr. Zanauskas was a forger at Wyman-Gordon Company in Worcester for 32 years, retiring in 1982. He was a WW II Navy veteran serving in the invasion of Africa and the Liberation of the Phillipines. He served in the European-African Middle Eastern Theater.

He was a member of St. James Church, the Dudley-Gendron American Legion Post, the WW II Veterans Submarine Post of Central Mass. and the Lithuanian Naturalization Club in Worcester. He was a former member of V.F.W. South Works Post in Worcester.

A funeral will be held Thursday, April 26, from Mulhane Home for Funerals, 45 Main St., Millbury, with a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. James Church, 89 Main St., South Grafton. Burial will be in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. Calling hours are 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, April 25, at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, Ma. 01701.
