MARLBOROUGH

ALFRED T. GRENIER

1946-2020

Alfred Grenier, known as “Al” to everyone, of Marlborough, MA passed away unexpectedly at home at the age of 73.  He was born and raised in Millbury, MA only child of Clara and Raymond H. Grenier.

Al is predeceased by father Raymond H. Grenier.  He has left behind his loving wife Ernestine “Tina” of 46 years and his mother Clara E. Grenier, 99, who resides at Auburn Life Care in Auburn, MA as well as numerous cousins.

Al was a devoted and loving husband, son and friend to all.

He became a proud member of the Massachusetts Freemasons in 2005 starting out at Corinthian Lodge in Concord MA. In 2009 Al transferred to United Brethren Lodge of Marlborough, joined Alpha Lodge of Framingham in 2018 and remained an active member of both to present.  He was a VERY enthusiastic participant and seldom missed a meeting.  He served as a chaplain for his UB Lodge as well as the DD Grand Chaplain for the past 2 years.  Al was an active member of Aleppo Shrine and Scottish Rite and especially loved traveling to different Lodges and Valleys across New England and beyond.

He was involved with the Boy Scouts America organization for nearly 50 years on all levels and was a very proud member of the Wood Badge Fox Patrol.

As a Veteran, Al served in the US Army from 1965-68 as a personnel specialist.

Since retiring 10 years ago from the retail world where he held roles in management, clerk supervision, loss preventions and sales, he enjoyed woodworking, spending time with his pet birds, making sure no neighborhood birds or squirrels went hungry, playing Canasta, and of course cruising.  He was a great storyteller and jokester.

Given the current health concerns, there will be no public calling hours or service.

A celebration of his life will be held once it is safe to do so at the United Brethren Lodge of Marlborough as we have much to celebrate!

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to any of the following as they were all near and dear to him.
