Patricia A. Spain

Patricia A. (Quirk) Spain, 83, passed away surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, Jan 14th.

Pat’s husband, Robert J. Spain, Sr. passed away in 2003.  She leaves three sons, John R. Spain and his life companion, Joanne Putnam of Sutton, Robert J. Spain Jr. and his wife, Amy Williams of Millbury and Alan J. Spain and his wife, Laura of Weirsdale, FL; eight grandchildren, Michelle Spain, Jennifer Spain Walsh, Wendy Holmes, Jaclyn Boucher, Caitlin Spain, Robyn Spain, Brittany Spain and A.J. Spain; three step grandchildren, Kendra, Cory and Trevin Williams; nine great grandchildren, Joshua, Nickolas, Brynna, Jason, Chase, Evan, Roeland, Piper and Raeya; four siblings, James Quirk, Mary Dzielski, Judy Foskett and Dianne Harris; many nieces and nephews.  She is predeceased by three siblings, George Quirk, Jr., Mike Quirk and Eileen Wenho.

Pat grew up in Shrewsbury and was the daughter of the late George J. and Mary E. (Spaulding) Quirk.  She worked at Spag’s, First National and later in life owned and operated Spain’s Country Store in Sutton.  After closing the country store she worked at the Jewish Healthcare Center in Worcester.  Pat enjoyed ceramics throughout her life, her passion lead to opening her own studio which included teaching ceramic classes.  She was a life member of the Singletary Rod and Gun Club.  Pat loved RV camping with family and friends, puzzles and especially spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.              

Family and friends will honor and remember Patricia’s life by gathering for calling hours on Friday, Jan. 19th from 4 to 7 p.m. in Mulhane Home for Funerals, 45 N. Main Street, Millbury. 

Her funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday Jan. 20th at 10 a.m. in St. Brigid Church, 59 N. Main Street, Millbury.  Her committal service will follow in West Sutton Cemetery.
